Acorn started in a simple way: Ana needed a genetic test, but was astounded by the lack of privacy and transparency in the market. Her desire to understand and control her health lead her to found Acorn Genetics and revolutionize the way we view health, starting from the smallest building block.
Max Derbyshire
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Max has been passionate about health innovation, and with two previous ventures under his belt, he works to bring Acorn Genetics to those who need it most. His experience in team management, branding, and design helps realize the vision of Acorn Genetics to change healthcare for the better.

Rishi Jain is passionate about the intersections of healthcare and biotechnology. When he joined, Rishi found the perfect blend of his interests— genetics research and development. Rishi brings solutions to the health-tech space that put accessibility and ethical care at the forefront of innovation.

At Acorn Genetics, we strive to make genetic testing secure, accessible, and affordable to all people. With a long term mission to create a completely private, personalized and preventative health care system, our genetic sequencing kit is the first step in achieving that goal. Coming out of the Gianneschi Lab at Northwestern University, our team of consists of graduate and undergraduate engineers, scientists, and public health experts. Our research is currently being sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Thiel Foundation, Venturewell, and The Garage at Northwestern.
